  • Did you know that this is the Chinese Year of the Horse? In Texas, we agree that there are plenty of reasons to celebrate these majestic creatures. From transportation to recreation to decoration, everything equestrian is in!

Here are some of our favorite ways to pay tribute to cowboy’s best friend:

“Texas Campfire” – Imagine a themed event where you feel like you are stepping onto the set of a John Wayne classic movie. The great outdoors is recreated inside a ballroom with campfire-style seating while cowboy storytellers perched at faux campfires recant historic tales from the trails dating back to the 1800’s. Live horses tied to split-rail fencing add to the authenticity and provide an excellent photo opportunity. Rustle up some grub, including a deluxe s’mores bar, complete with a marshmallow roasting station. Take a seat and enjoy dinner at rustic picnic tables as a strolling fiddler serenades and takes you back to a simpler time. Relax and take a deep breath… you’re in Texas now!

During this unique cattle drive experience, guests take a riding lesson and then practice with the cattle before heading out on the trails. Large breeding farms, training facilities and equine specialist make this area a mecca for professional horsemen and horse enthusiasts from all over the world. Cattle Drive Sculpture at Pioneer Plaza – Visiting this sculpture in the heart of Dallas is nothing short of spectacular! It commemorates nineteenth century cattle drives that took place along the Shawnee Trail, the earliest and easternmost route by which Texas longhorn cattle were taken to northern railheads. The 70 bronze steers and 3 trail riders sculptures were created by artist Robert Summers of Glen Rose, Texas. Each steer is larger-than-life at six feet high; all together the sculpture is the largest bronze monument of its kind in the world!

His paintings depict the life of a cowboy in vibrant colors while still evoking a sense of nostalgia. Our team works with Lyndon on guest amenities, VIP gifts, and custom artwork – ask us for more information on this colorful character!

Great information! Did you hear about the BBC’s caption system mis-translating it to the “Year of the whores?” Eesh! Someone had a bad day!
